  • Towel Day

I’ve promised to myself that I would prepare a series of illustrations for this year’s towel day since I’m such a huge fan of everything Douglas Adams ever wrote. And so I did and it was really enjoyable making them this last week. I had no idea that towel day would turn out to be such a sad day for me this time around. I wasn’t sure this morning if it would be appropriate to share them, but I decided that even a speck of something happy would be especially welcome -at least for me- on a day such as this turned out to be.

    So, here they are!

    Color quickies

louie-CK-color-studyIt’s been a while since I posted anything on process. Sometimes the projects I’m working on lean heavily on design so there’s no need for me to draw anything from observation. When that happens for too many days in a row I’m starting to feel a bit rusty. One of my favorite exercises on observation when I’m indoors is pausing on something I’m watching to make a quick digital color sketch. This one took a bit more than 15 minutes I think. Great show by the way.

And while we are at it here’s a really quick one from True Detective. Another great show. I’ve already post it on facebook a while ago but somehow I forgot to post it here on the blog.

Here’s another study on the same principle from a previous post that started out as a pencil sketch but eventually got scanned and colored.

    Meet the gang!

This little project was quite fun to do.  The super cool people at the design studio I’m currently working with are redesigning their website so I made a sketch for every member of the gang.  Phatty and Bijoux are running the whole show while cleverly disquised as office pets. We also have a surfer, a rock star and a dancer in our midst which, if nothing else, scores really really  high on the cool factor.
